A magnificent early carved serpent head with apple in mouth, originally from a Dutch Pharmacy – 17th/18th century.
The snake being an ancient symbol used by pharmacists with deep historical roots in medicine and healing. There is also some religious meaning with the apple, possibly Adam & Eve. Complete with original paint and presented on a modern stand. A rare thing indeed!
