A fantastic mid-20th century Chinese Dragon floor lamp, hand-carved from richly toned hardwood and professionally rewired with antique style braided cable.

The tall, slender column is intricately decorated with continuous relief carving including the dragons body, legs and tail, culminating in a dramatic dragon-form finial at the crest. The sinuous dragon, a symbol of power and auspicious fortune in Chinese culture, is rendered with expressive detail. Its scaled body coiling as it leans forward to grasp the lamp fitting with flame glass shade suspended from the dragon’s mouth. The red bulb glows warmly when illuminated and adds a theatrical presence to the piece. The base is equally ornate, with pierced and carved elements that provide both stability and visual balance to the vertical form.
