Victorian Folk Art Diorama ‘Viaduct Tavern’
£350.00
A wonderful scratch built Folk Art Diorama of the ‘Viaduct Tavern’ made in the 19th century by Robert Thorley.
Housed in a pine box with a nicely detailed facade, the delicately construction tavern sits behind a glazed front surrounded by flowers. It’s colourful, well detailed and remains in good timeworn condition. Looks fantastic displayed table top or can be wall mounted.
The Viaduct Tavern was located in Todmorden W. Yorks next to the Guaxholme Railway Viaduct which was built in 1837. It was built to replace the Old Masons Arms which was demolished when Guaxholme Railway Viaduct was erected. It was the last beer house remaining in the local area and was closed in 1965. The busking remains and is now a private residence.
