Pharmacy & post office sign
Category: Sold
A magnificent & unique Post Office & Pharmacy sign from Thorpe bay, Essex.
The heavy hand forged cast iron bracket was original to the building and dates from C.1900. The building has always been a post office & pharmacy and remains the same today. It’s a large double sided example, the wood lettering and backing would have been replaced over the years, the current wood letters are most likely from the 1950’s and although fragile & flakey are original to the sign. The wood backing is in good condition, it’s solid, stable and very heavy. The bracket is perfectly useable and the sign displays really well. A fantastic and rare piece of social history with good local interest.
