Large French Reeded Mirror

A stunning French reeded mirror with magnificent foxed mercury plate glass C.1860.

Well made from a solid pine frame with a layer of gesso, stylish raised reeded borders and a hand painted & gilded finish. The original mercury plate is present with wonderful sporadic foxing all over, giving a unique distressed look. It’s a large full length example & works well both free standing or could be displayed landscape on a large wall. Good solid condition with some minor loss & cosmetic wear. The ivory paint & gilded reeding combined with the foxing works incredibly well. Faded grandeur at its best.
