Italian Crown Mirror

A rather special and elaborate Italian Florentine mirror, dating from the late 19th century.

Superb quality, made in the Florence region circa. 1880-1900. Carved from pine with a decorative gesso layer, ornamental additions and a beautiful hand painted & gold leaf finish.
The impressive shield shaped frame features a beautiful crown finial with red curtains draping either side of a tied bow and mirrored back panel. Pretty swag detail flanks either side of the original & clean mirrored plate, an ornate lower pediment adorns the base of the mirror. It’s presented in good solid and untouched condition with minor cosmetic wear & loss to the crown. This is large and very fancy wall hanging mirror which displays wonderfully as a statement piece and oozes grandeur.
