Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
An exquisite full mount swan in flight.
A beautiful powder grey and white, the bird was one winter away from another feather moult into full pure white adult plumage.
The poor creature flew into windows along Southend on Sea seafront. It was taken to a local wildlife hospital, where it was discovered that it had broken wing bones. It was decided the kindest thing to do would be to euthanise the animal.
Swans are such large birds, with such an expanse of wing, that it would not of healed well enough for the bird to be released back to the wild.
The bird was mounted using traditional taxidermy methods, by a professional with 40 years experience. A unique hand made body form was created.
A truly superb mount, perfect for any interior.
