French Prie Dieu

A simply beautiful French prie dieu or prayer chair dating from the late 19th century.

A scarce model with fantastic form, made rare by its unusual cast iron frame and higher seat position than usual. The original upholstery is obviously tatty and tired however the chair itself is perfectly solid and in good original condition. The webbing underneath is tight and tidy. Use as it is or a great candidate for reupholstery. Very pretty indeed.
