Dutch Leather Merchants Armchair
A distinguished Dutch leather Merchants armchair, dating from the mid 19th century.
Excellent quality construction, made in oak with chunky bobbin turned legs, perfectly timeworn original leather with copper stud work. It’s a substantial size, incredibly comfortable and has a lovely high back design very much in the Gothic style. It’s in good solid & stable condition all round, the leather is very old and has signs of cosmetic wear, marks, scuffs with the main area of wear naturally being to the armrests (please view photos). There are no nasty rips or tears to the side or back panels, the seat squab is in good order and the webbing remains tight with no sagging underneath. A perfectly useable antique leather armchair with a great look and tons of character.
