Distressed Victorian Pier Mirror
A magnificent Victorian pier glass mirror in the Regency style, dating from the late 19th century.
This attractive large size pier mirror in classical taste, has a pair of wonderful carved wood pilasters with acanthus bulb design in the centre and at each end, a prominent tiered cornice above, an ebonised slip and the most amazing original distressed plate. It has some loss to the gilt-gesso on both pillars which has been touched in, however is perfectly solid & stable, as well as being incredibly decorative. It displays well over a mantel, can be fixed to the wall by its mounting brackets or looks superb free standing. This is a true decorators piece with a unique distressed appearance and not one for the purists!
