Cast iron private road sign

A perfectly timeworn & unique cast iron sign from a private road, dating from the late 50’s or early 60’s.

Hand painted on a heavy thick gauge piece of cast iron with a raised edge and central hole for wall mounting.
The wonderful white & black lettering reads

‘HIGHWAYS ACT 1959
THIS ROAD IS PRIVATE AND NO LUBLIC RIGHTs
EXIST THEREOVER’

The sign is solid and although the wording is faded & weathered what’s there is stable and reads well with superb overall patina.
